Day 2. Day Trip to Sintra

Stats: 19km walked, 25,500 steps, 119 floors climbed.

Today, we set out from Angels Hostel at 8:20AM in search of a train station that would take us to Sintra. I thought we could do this and be back by 2-3PM, but it turns out this is a full day trip. We got a coffee and tart and found the right train station.

We found Rossio train station. Found our tickets, awaited a train to Sintra and departed on the 50 minute journey.

On arrival, we caught the 434 bus route to Palácio da Pena, the Sintra Palace. We got tickets for 1:30pm entry and headed to the Castelo dos Mouros, the Moorish castle.

After the Moorish Castle, we headed back to the palace. We bought a very simple cheese and tomato sandwich from the palace cafe.

Our next stop was to the gardens at Quinta da Regaleira. Here there is many cave structures which were made into gardens.

After Quinta da Regaleira, which involved a lot of walking, we decided to order dinner at Fatto da Cláudio Coelho which was a 5-star restaurant from trip advisor with very reasonable prices.

We got chocolate and banana gelato ice cream and continued walking back to the train. I decided to get us off a station early so that we could walk to the next destination even though I was really tired. We walked to Fonte Luminosa which was a large water fountain.

Tomorrow, we depart for Madrid, Spain.
