Day 20. Starting our 130km walk from Coventry to Oxford along the Oxford Canal Walk.

As this walking trip may end up being mighty exhausting my blog pasts may turn into statistics and photos for the coming 4 days.

We departed Glasgow at 5:38am but our train was canceled so we were put on a bus to a different location than planned. The connecting train from Carlisle was also canceled so we had some Costa Coffee and breakfast for an hour.

On arriving in Preston I picked up some drinks and a sandwich for a snack for later.

At Preston we were on time to get our reserved train to Coventry. The beginning of our walk here.

Mitchell and I opted to walk the additional 7.4km from Coventry Train Station to Hawksberry Junction. So the 123km walk will be treated as 130km for the future posts on our trip. There may be some error as we depart the canal to find our accommodation each night but I shall continue this for the purpose of keeping track of it.

Departing the train station in Coventry.

Day 1 Progress Report

Starting Point: Coventry Train Station at 12:50PM

Destination: Burton House, Rugby

Distance: 28.67km

Completed: 22% of 130km

Average pace: 5.03km/h

In the below map, you will see a sharp straight line out of Coventry north which was Mitchell’s idea to walk from the station to the start of the walk at Hawksberry Station (but I was happy to do this to, looks horrible on a map though going the wrong direction).

Elapsed time shows a total of 32min in breaks. Workout time is time walking.

After 7km we reach the beginning of the canal walk we set out on the windy river. I didn’t see any other junctions today, but the below you will see the canal is different levels. The water doesn’t flow in a canal, which I was not aware of. Just a flat body of water.
