Today we departed at about 9am after getting some Costa Coffee. The accommodation at Burton House was very good. Rooms were seperate and showers were shared. At night I took a walk to the local shopping centre to get a UK adapter for my charger and got Mitchell a power pack as well. I also got supplies for the next day including water. We set out.
Our walk to Braunston was uneventful. I didn’t even need music or a podcast to keep me entertained. The walk was great. There was an area which was just the sound of the birds. I will add a gallery below of some photos before lunch.
Below I will put a photo of our first view of Braunston. It was kinda cool to walk half a day and come across a new town. Towns are fairly close together in Europe.
At Braunston we had lunch at the Boathouse which was a mighty meal. We both very much enjoyed it. I will include photos below.
After lunch we went to the shop in Braunston to get dinner as our accommodation does not have meals near by. After this I made an egregious error. An error which ended up being mighty disaster.
In the map below you will notice we went to Daventry. Which was the completely wrong canal. When we went to the shops in Braunston I thought the canal below us was the Oxford Canal but it wasn’t. It lead the completely wrong direction. I wasn’t using google maps as it just tries to take us along the road anyway.
We had to take a mighty detour through farmer’s fields, it was not a small detour as you can see in the map below. I will put a red line on the route we should have taken. It was not good. Farmer’s are required to maintain certain tracks through their property for walkers. I will put photos below of us correcting my error. There were worse places to have to walk through.
The route’s we took were sign posted as public tracks.
On approaching Napton on the Hill it started to rain, I was feeling a little unbalanced, and both our feet were in some mighty pain. I asked Mitchell if we could take a Uber to our accommodation as it was 6:15pm and we still had 2 hours walk left. Mitchell agreed. The yellow cross is where our accommodation was.
From here I will put our progress report with the maps.
