Today, we woke up with far fewer sleepers in the dormitory. For some reason a weekday is busier than a Friday. There was however some thumping music down below late into the night. I didn’t find this too bothersome. We did purchase earplugs just in case, Mitchell found these useful.
Started the day with a shopping centre run. I got a pistachio croissant, with a backup cheese sandwich for later.
We were travelling from Chur (Switzerland) to Bolzano (Italy), taking a route with two train changes and a total journey time of just over six hours. We caught an earlier train to Sargans than initially booked, so we avoided the tight 3-minute transfer originally scheduled by our least favourite train booking app. From Sargans, at 11:33am we boarded Railjet 165 to Innsbruck, Austria, arriving around 14:11. We had over an hour there, which gave us time for a quick McDonald’s stop to try the local cuisine before catching Railjet 87 at 15:24. We arrived in Bolzano at 17:27.
The trains were packed. Really packed. We reserved seats and they had people in them. We had to politely let them know. The second train was better. The seats light lit up red when it was time for free loaders (those who don’t pay the €3 seat reservation fee) to move (the light turns on when approaching a station when the seat is reserved).
We made an almost direct route to the laundromat there. Stopping quickly at the accommodation on the way. Bare-bones hostels and regional towns do not go together when considering laundry. We are also back to the land of the euro, thank goodness. Things are a bit cheaper.
We didn’t work out the Italian language to operate the laundromat. Wasn’t an easy task, a local helped us insert the bank card correctly and select the washing machine.

While we dried the clothes we had a pizza at a neighbouring restaurant. Funghi Pizza was €10, drink €3.50. Much more reasonable.

An interesting accommodation style this one. We are in an apartment on the second floor. We get to have our own room but we have a shared bathroom and kitchen with the other rooms here.

An interesting accommodation style business idea to lock each room and allow self check-in.
Nothing much else to report from today. We are laying in bed and might do a treasure hunt tomorrow.
