Today, we made an executive decision to move forward with our trip. Our plan was to do 3 days walking and we feel we achieved this. We had plans in Oxford for this night and it wouldn’t have been possible if we kept walking for another 2 days (which it would have required with the distance left).
We are so pleased with our walk. We did 90km along the canal and saw some amazing sights. I did not properly realise when beginning how many people appear to live on the canals. Boats look like homes, you can walk past and see multiple bedrooms and kitchens, firewood stacked on top. It felt like a real life style.
In the morning, we caught the train to Oxford. What would have been 10 hours of walking took 20min by train. Yikes.
In Oxford we immediately did some washing at a nice laundromat. I contemplated how much my shoes required a clean.
We had a coffee while doing laundry, after this, walked towards our accommodation and encountered a friendly goose who did a poo.
Also found Themes river which the Oxford Canal joins up with eventually. Apparently it can sometimes ‘flood’ here according to signs. In 1894, 1947 and 2003. Water levels got fairly serious.
We checked in and took a slow walk around Oxford as I was quite sore in the feet. I was okay once starting to walk but warming up took some effort.
After this we had dinner at a quirky Lebanese restaurant and called it a day.
I picked up a snack at a Tesco on the way home. We called it a night, and considered that it was probably our first day we didn’t do to much. Still did 15km and 20,000 steps though.
You are in England….😁
Sounds like a very long but great walk.
And your dinner looks so good
