I have long been pestering my good friend Mitchell what his plans might be for his annual leave this year. For a long time, his plan remained somewhat undecided, initially considering a road trip up north to Queensland. However, he offered me a last minute change of plans which I very much agreed to.
My favourite of all destinations of the various places I have been is Europe. Our last trip was in 2023 when this blog started. Initially this blog was called ‘M & T Travels’, since evolved into an aptly named ‘My Scribbles’ which has hosted a number of different posts that could also be named the later.
I would write about the plans for this trip, however they largely remain a mystery. This is, in a large part, the attraction. A trip of unknown origin. An expedition into the unknown. We have booked tickets to Amsterdam, but how will we get home? A final destination has not been mentioned.
But, like last time, we pack light and take just small backpacks. I have a green Kathmandu backpack this time. It has only one side pouch, a small problem I have found. Quite a bit smaller than last time overall (although my last one wasn’t very big).
I do have one goal. On arrival, I would like to buy a small sewing kit and fabric patches for each country. In the style of flags as a way to count the countries we have travelled to. With the diminishing use of stamps in passports, how do we prove our adventures?
Hopefully, we will see many sights, learn lots, and have a good break.
