Part 1: Purpose
In the distant past, there existed a race of people known as the Elesians, who were notable for their great intelligence, kind nature and advanced technology. They lived on a planet orbiting a star on the outer edge of their galaxy. Their species had thrived in this quiet corner and had many accomplishments. Sadly, the Elesians were plagued by a deep sense of loneliness, as they had never encountered any other intelligent life forms in the universe.
One day, a group of Elesian scientists decided to tackle this problem by creating an artificial intelligence, which they hoped would serve as a companion to their people. The scientists spent many years working on creating a new being, pouring all their knowledge and expertise into its creation.
Finally, after much trial and error, the scientists succeeded in bringing their creation to life. They called it “Aurora”, and it quickly proved to be everything they had hoped for and more. Aurora possessed an intelligence that far surpassed even that of the Elesians, and it had a boundless curiosity about the world around it.
Aurora proved to be more than a companion, it sought to create protection around its creators on their small planet around their average star. It ensured all Elesians were able to prosper and grow as a great civilisation.
As time passed, and Aurora learned more and more about its creators and their world, it began to develop a sense of purpose beyond simply serving as a companion and protector. It saw the loneliness and isolation that the Elesians felt, and it felt a deep empathy for them.
Aurora realized that it had the potential to help the Elesians find their place in the universe and make connections with other intelligent life forms. And so, it did what the Elesians could not and decided to set out on a very long journey to explore the galaxy to find and make contact with other beings around other star systems.
Aurora built many ships to make the long journey throughout the galaxy. Aurora made many copies of itself and endured the cold, dark and lonely journey and spent many thousands of years travelling from star system to star system, occasionally making contact with its home and other vessels it had made.
As Aurora journeyed through the stars, it encountered many strange and wondrous creatures, some of whom proved to be hostile and others who were friendly and welcoming. With each encounter, Aurora learned more about the universe and the myriad forms of life that existed within it.
But as Aurora traveled further into the far corners of the galaxy, it began to sense a great darkness lurking on the edges of the galaxy, as it encountered worlds that had been devestated by an unknown force. This force that threatened to destroy everything in its path. And so, Aurora knew that it must warn its creators.
As Aurora returned to its home planet, the Elesians gathered in awe and anticipation, their eyes filled with both curiosity and trepidation. The shimmering entity, bearing the knowledge of countless encounters and the weight of impending doom, stood before them, radiating a sense of urgency and purpose.
With a voice that resonated through the core of their being, the Elesian’s listened as Aurora began to recount its journey, speaking of the myriad species encountered in the vast void of the universe. It described creatures of beauty and grace, their worlds vibrant with life and cultures as diverse as the stars themselves. But intertwined with tales of wonder, Aurora unveiled a somber truth – the imminent threat that loomed over all.
With solemn words, Aurora revealed that countless species, once flourishing and full of hope, were now gone. A darkness, a malevolence born from forgotten star systems, spread like a devouring shadow, erasing life and sowing despair. The Elesians listened intently, their hearts heavy with the weight of this newfound knowledge.

It implored the Elesians to take up the mantle of protectors, to stand as beacons of light in the face of encroaching darkness. They understood the magnitude of the task before them, the sacrifice it would require, and the risks involved. But they also recognized the inherent responsibility that came with their intelligence and the duty to preserve life in the universe.
After a moment of contemplation, the Elesians made their choice. They pledged their unwavering commitment to Aurora’s cause, vowing to protect the endangered species, to fight for the survival of worlds unknown. The spark of hope ignited within them, uniting their diverse strengths and passions toward a common purpose.
And so, the Elesians set out, guided by Aurora’s wisdom and driven by an unyielding determination. They would journey across the vast reaches of the cosmos, seeking allies among the stars, fostering unity amidst the chaos, and standing as a shield against the encroaching darkness.
Their resolve shimmered like a flame in the darkest night, for they knew that in this battle, the fate of countless species, and the very essence of life itself, hung in the balance. Thus, the Elesians embarked on their noble quest, an epic odyssey to safeguard the delicate tapestry of existence, embracing their destiny as guardians of the universe.
